Doggy Day Care

By muddledblog

Oliver goes to doggy day care on Tuesdays to a place called Canine Comfort Doggy Daycare. I found out about it from our local SPCA website. He really enjoys running around all day with a bunch of other dogs. You should see how happy he looks being chased or chasing. Sadly, Oliver also gets motion sick and Canine Comfort is at the top of hill 25 minutes or so from home. He stomach gets so upset on the drive and so I keep on trying different things. The last couple of times he went I placed him inside a crate covered with a blanket and he has not thrown up this way. Still, I don’t give him breakfast till we get there to reduce what he might not keep down.

There are so many dogs that love to go for a ride in the car, wind blowing in their face as they stick their head out the window. But that is not Oliver. It almost feels cruel to take him for a drive, but I know over all he enjoys the places we take him to (dog park, obedience class, doggy daycare) more than enough to compensate for the way the car makes him feel.

I think the next thing to try is D.A.P., which in my line of work refers to Diallyl Phthalate (notice the marvelous ph-th combination) a type of epoxy, but for dogs refers to Dog Appeasement Pheromones. A fairly expensive spray bottle that may or may not help. We shall see.
