If Only?

Obama and the Clinton are damaging the Democratic party. I blame most of it on the Clintons and her supporters, but Obama and his supporters are not backing away from using negative attacks either. It is getting to the point in my book that neither should be the Democratic nominee. I am so tired of hearing their bickering that it is turning me off from listening to what else they may have to say. If only they could get along and let the people choose based on what they stand for. Of course, that would mean that Obama would be the candidate so I doubt that Clinton has any plans of letting that happen.

Clinton really has no chance of winning. Her polling is lower and she has less delegates. She could be either thinking of winning the second round of balloting or she is running for the V.P. spot. Neither is going to happen at this point.

By the convention every delegate will have been committed to either Obama or Clinton and that means that one of the them has to win in the first round of balloting. Sure it is going to be decided by superdelegates, but even with them Clinton is still far behind Obama. The only other option is that someone has pulled some serious back room gaming of the system and convinces Edwards to keep his 16 pledged delegates from voting for Obama or Clinton. But a candidate who wins from back room deals doesn’t deserve to be president. It is possible for Al Gore or some other candidate to get in that way, since delegates can vote for who ever they want in the second round, but I wouldn’t vote for that person for president if that happened.

As for Clinton being the V.P. candidate, well I think she has burned that bridge. In fact, she may have nuked that bridge. If she is thinking of that then she should be working on reconciliation and not negative attacks.

Personally, I do respect both candidates for their positions on many of the important topics. Still, I would be much happier voting for either candidate if they were not attacking each other.

I totally agree here, colonel! I like both candidates, but they are dividing the Dem party in half, while the republicans are mostly a solid entity and the Dems are only hurting themselves with the bickering.
