The view from our hotel room
It was an amazing vacation. The people that we met were all very nice. Everyone, with the possible exception of the taxi drivers, are very laid back and I can understand why. It seems to always be nice. Day after day of sun, a nice ocean breeze, sand, and clear water.
The Palms at Pelican Cove has lots of Palms
We stayed at the Palms at Pelican Cove. I would give it an 8 out of 10, loosing some points for the bad shower and some problems with the TV but gaining many points for a great and totally underused beach. Often we were the only ones on it even though it provided many places to swim and even snorkel.

There were many reefs and wildlife around the beach and the water was very clear. While a little too far out of Christiansted to walk, it was a quick taxi ride into town.
The View of Christiansted from Pelican Cove
Christiansted has a nice boardwalk with many places to get rum drinks. Don’t go there too late. It has a great view of the Caribbean ocean and many small boats dock there. Some even live on boats in the bay.
The Boardwalk in Christiansted
There are other places to see in St Croix, such as the rain forest and the landing point of Columbus in 1493 – which can be found at the Salt River National Park. Just imagine 17 15th century ships anchored at the center of the next picture. In the background is Buck Island, located at the center of one of only two underwater national parks.

There is so much to talk about that I will have to save the rest for my next post.

Beautiful pictures! Lived on St. Croix for 5 years- Hannah’s Rest, Judith’s Fancy- 1967-1972- Miss the place! I hope St. Croix returns to what it was before the massacre at the Fountain Valley Golf Course. Thanks for giving me a bit of nosalgia!

[...] I knew. The selection was based on guide books and internet searches. A lot like how we found the Palms at Pelican Cove on St Croix. Well, I have to say that the Mill Valley Inn reminded me of the Palms in many ways, [...]
