Other Interests

One of my greatest interests is in science. A great example of my interest would be the website Astronomy Picture of the Day. I go there almost every day and see what is new. The Martian rovers, the progress on the LHC, and so many other topics to think about. For example, I once wrote a paper for a college class on fusion technology about the design of an unmanned space probe powered by a fusion reactor that would travel to our nearest stellar neighbors to send back information about what is out there.

Anime, as well as other cartoons, is one of my casual interests. My first introduction to Anime was in middle school with the movie Akira which I watch in Japanese with only an English scene guide to help understand what was going on. Still I was fascinated. From there I went on to dubbed and horribly doctored American released versions of Anime. My interest peaked in college when I was able to watch Anime greats such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Serial Experiments Lain, Haibane Renmei, and so many others.

I also enjoy the cartoon classics such as Looney Toons and their modern contemporaries such as Animaniacs as well as those targeting older audiences such as the Simpsons.

Then there are the two cats in my life who are so very interesting. I hope to put up pictures of them.

There is another interest in my life that I find somewhat embarrassing. I play Bridge, the card game. I in fact am a member of the ACBL (American Contract Bridge League) at the lowly status of “Club Master”. My friend Peter often uses the quote “difficult yet boring” to define bridge. Maybe if I was better at it I would think otherwise. Or maybe if I knew what I was doing. I am not certain if I will ever have a post on bridge, but I cannot put it outside the realm of possibility. Maybe I will win a tournament, if I ever play in one again.

You can look forward to posts on these and many other interests.
